Waterfall Rappelling/Canyoning Tour in Arenal/La Fortuna
The Arenal area is one of the best places in Costa Rica for waterfall rappelling/canyoning. The company that we recommend for this tour, Pure Trek, specializes in canyoning.
Their tour starts with a short 4×4 truck ride up the mountain into the rainforest. This takes you to the canyon where you’ll start rappelling. In total, you’ll do 4 rappels (3 waterfalls and 1 rock wall) at various heights from 40-165 feet (12-50 meters). There are guides at the top and bottom to help you safely navigate. The tour also includes a Monkey Drop (freefall) where you zipline out then drop into a refreshing pool below. This can be controlled by the guides for those looking for less of an adrenalin rush.
The tour wraps up at the base office where you can change clothes and enjoy a delicious homemade meal.
It’s good for kids and adults alike (rated for ages 5+). You’ll only do a small amount of walking to get to the first waterfall (0.2 miles), in between rappels, and then to exit (0.4 miles).
We often hear from people that this was one of their favorite activities of their trip.
