Holy Week 2018

carrieglick asked 8 years ago

Planning a trip to CR next year for our teen’s spring break.  We will arrive 3/28/18 and want to stay in Arenal area for 3 nights and then head to our resort near Quepos.  Know anything about Holy week in Arenal area?  Are we going to run into any problems with things being closed?

Hi carrieglick, typically holy week is a very busy time for tourism here in Costa Rica so almost everything is open with the exception of government and schools. A lot of tour companies (zip-line, rafting, etc) are open 365 days a year. Restaurants are similar, though some of the smaller locally run places might take some days off. The locals take vacation at this time too and the beach towns become very busy. You might just want to book hotels and tours well in advance to make sure you get what you want. Hope this helps and let us know if you need any help with your plans.
