Good morning,
Staying in Alajuela for a few nights. What would be your recommendation from getting from our hotel to Poas Volcano and back?

Hi Kaila,
You could ask your hotel about a private driver or you could rent a car for the day. The company we recommend and offer a discount through has an office in Alajuela. You wouldn’t need 4×4 if you just stayed on the main roads to the National Park, La Paz, etc. so it would probably be very affordable (as little as $40 or $50 for a compact car).
