Best places to visit in August!

DWQA QuestionsCategory: Itinerary QuestionsBest places to visit in August!

I am planning a trip with my boyfriend (we are both 24 years old) end of August into September for 5 full days. We are planning to fly into San Jose and then go to Arenal for 2-3 days. We are trying to figure out where to go from Arenal and were considering Manuel Antonio, but are worried about it being rainy all day. We ideally want a place where there is a lot to do and maybe a beach. Where would be best to go to from Arenal?

Hi jamiek92,
Manuel Antonio is a good spot with a lot to do and some nice beaches. We have a whole post about it if you need more info (https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/manuel-antonio-trip-planning/) The conditions will be pretty similar along the entire Pacific Coast that time of year and it will also be rainy on the Caribbean side, so our advice would be to pick the destination that is the most appealing to you based on activities and go there. Since the weather is unpredictable, just try to plan your activities with some flexibility. If it is sunny the first day, go to the beach and skip the hike to the waterfall that can be done on a cloudy day, etc. Typically it doesn’t rain all day, every day, and when it does a lot of times it is only in the afternoon. Get your activities in early and you should still have a lot of fun!
