Thanks for taking my question. I am wondering where the best scuba diving is in Costa Rica. I know that there a are many areas where you can dive. We will be there in late November. Thanks again.
Hi tmlichvar,
We aren’t scuba certified but just from helping people in the past, Cano Island off the coast of Drake Bay probably has the best scuba and snorkeling conditions. Otherwise there are some really good areas off the Guanacaste coast like the Bat Islands. You could access those if staying somewhere like Playa Hermosa (Guanacaste) in the northern part of the country. In general the scuba diving in Costa Rica is more about offshore formations/structure and marine life like sharks, large fish, rays, etc. It doesn’t have the elaborate coral reefs that some countries have but does have some. Of course, it can still be really amazing, even without the intricate reef systems. Hope you give it a try and have a good experience.
