Hi,
My wife and I are fortunate enough to get to spend a little over two weeks in Costa Rica this September. We would like to visit monteverde, and are looking at renting the suzuki jimny through adobe. My main question is if you think the jimny is able to handle any road conditions we may come across in September. We pack light, and it’s just the two of us, so I’m not too concerned about how big the car itself is.
Thanks for your input!
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
September is definitely one of the rainiest times to visit so it is hard to say what the roads will be like (depends on the severity of storms, washouts, etc). But the Jimmy is a good little 4×4 and has pretty good ground clearance. If you are doing the drive to Monteverde from La Fortuna, I would expect that way to be a little worse than if you were coming from Route 1 on 606. That way has less dirt road to travel. You could always check with your hotel/lodge before making the drive to see which way is in better shape. You can read more about those specific routes in our Driving to Monteverde Post. Hope this helps and have a great time!
