Hi! I am doing a service project and want to explore for a few days between the end of my project and my flight home. I free up on a Friday (beginning of August) and fly out on Wednesday morning. I’ll originate and end at San Jose. Any realistic recommendations? I’d love to see wildlife and/or possibly hike Arenal and do the bridges. I was in 8 countries and nearly 18 cities last summer (all within a 3 week span – busses, hostels and trains) in Europe – so “fast-paced” is great! Any help would be really appreciated!
Hi TurtleWhisperer,
Not sure where you are at with the planning on this as August is coming up soon but from San Jose, you could easily drive, shuttle, or bus to La Fortuna for a couple of nights. There you could see the volcano, maybe visit the La Fortuna Waterfall, and do another activity or two. From there you could then loop over to Monteverde for a couple of nights (Maybe look into the van-boat-van shuttle option). Monteverde has great hanging bridges and you’ll get to experience the cloud forest. Then back to San Jose after that. Just a quick idea without knowing much about how you plan to get around.
