How to get to Drake Bay?

Hi Jen and Matt! 
 
My sister and I are traveling to Costa Rica this June. We are following your two week itinerary, and plan to rent a car. We were wondering about the best way to go about getting to Drake Bay. Do you suggest dropping the rent a car off in a place outside of Drake Bay then taking the water taxi, and a bus back to San Jose? What do you think is easiest?
