Hi. We are travelling to Costa Rica in January 2018. We arrive in San Jose on the 8th.
we are planning on spending 1 night in Volcan Pos, 2 nights in La Fortuna, 2 nights in Monteverde and 3 nights in Manuel Antonio.
do you think this is a good itinerary. Our family consists of:
6 adults (including 2 80 Year olds), 4 kids aged 10,10,7 and 1.
happy to other suggestions – we are easy going and happy to see anything .
also, can you recommend a private transfer company that can bring us to all these places and that would fit us all in one van. We would also need 2 car seats.
BTW: I love this site. So useful and I get excited every time I read your posts.
cheers
Hi sergcorp,
That’s great that you will be visiting Costa Rica as a family. Those destinations are good choices but the timing might feel a little rushed, especially moving such a big group around. 2 nights is enough to get a feel for Monteverde but La Fortuna has a lot to see and is a bit more spread out. If you are okay with fast paced and missing out on some sights/activities, then go for it. If not, maybe cut out one destination and explore each area that you do visit, more. For Poas Volcano, right now it has been active so the National Park (and viewing platform for the crater) are closed but there are still other activities in that area to do like La Paz. Just wanted to mention that. For transport, we can certainly help you arrange a van that would fit everyone if you haven’t already made plans yet. Just reply here and we will email you the details. Hope you have a fantastic time with your family!
