Since there are no ATMs in Tortuguero, what is the preferred cash to bring??? US or Colones???

Hi graeagle,
Both currencies will be accepted but if you bring USD, we recommend having smaller bills like $20’s. Hotels will probably take a $50 bill but restaurants and tours might not. Also, you will most likely receive your change in Colones. If you have the opportunity to exchange some money, you could bring both.
