Hi! You mentioned previously on your blog that you knew of a turtle patrolling tour in Dominical. We will be in the area in early August and would interest in details of this if it is still running. (We will already be visiting Tortuguero so you may suggest there are better options – we will also do a whale tour – although I believe the species of turtles and environment are quite different on the Pacific coast.) Many thanks for any help you can offer.
Hi Emy,
Yes, a great resource for sea turtles near Dominical is Reserva Tortuga (which is about 30 minutes south in Ojochal). They do sea turtle monitoring program and if you go to their FAQ Page, they have a contact on there about setting up a night patrol. You will also be able to do this through the local guide association in Tortuguero since the timing will also be good on the Caribbean Coast. We have information in our post about Tortuguero.
For whale watching, the season starts in July so you should be able to see some in August. You can read more about whale watching tours that start from Uvita (just south of Dominical) in our Whale Watching Post. We are also happy to help you set up a whale tour for you.
